Ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan met with a controversy, when he named the surviving actress of sexual assault from Malayalam film industry. While uttering her name during a press meet, Kamal was warned by a journalist for naming the actress, something which was not allowed according to the law. However, Kamal not willing to do so, stating that he found no guilt in doing so. Soon after, the actor was demanded to apologize by the National Commission for Women for his action. Well, Kamal seems to be not going to back off from his statement.
In announcing his decision through a series of tweets, Kamal Hassan asked the activists to give her any name – be it his mother’s or daughter’s – which according to him, would not be going to wipe out the tears of the actress. He also asked media to project the case as that of a female’s rather than being tagged as an actress’s. In the final tweet, he however stated that he would be ready to apologize, if the activists still find his statement not satisfying enough.
